"A Taste of Buddhism" offers an accessible introduction to Buddhist principles and their practical applications in daily life. This course is ideal for beginners seeking to explore the foundational teachings of Buddhism within the context of the Lam Rim, or the Graduated Path to Enlightenment.


Course StructureThroughout this course, you will be introduced to the core concepts of Buddhism and how they can be applied to everyday challenges. The structure includes:

  • Introduction to Buddhist Principles: Learn about the fundamental teachings of Buddhism, including the nature of suffering, impermanence, and compassion.
  • Practical Meditation Techniques: Experience basic meditation practices such as mindfulness and visualization, designed to help you integrate Buddhist concepts into your daily life.
  • Addressing Common Issues: Gain insights into addressing common personal challenges like dissatisfaction and uncontrolled emotions through Buddhist perspectives.
  • Group Discussions: Participate in discussions with fellow beginners to share experiences, deepen your understanding, and connect with like-minded individuals.

The course aims to provide you with practical tools to enhance your life's meaning and fulfillment while offering a supportive environment to explore these new concepts. By the end of the course, you will have a solid foundation in Buddhist teachings and practices, as well as a deeper understanding of how they can positively impact your life.

Please note that this course focuses on foundational teachings and practices designed for those new to Buddhism.

Accommodation Options: Students have the option to upgrade to single, double, or triple rooms with private or shared facilities. These rooms are available at an additional charge. Room allocation is handled on a first-come, first-served basis and is confirmed upon arrival. We cannot guarantee your first choice of room.

Arrival and Check-In:

  • Check-in Time: February 11, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (latest).
  • First Session: 5:30 pm on February 11. Please ensure you arrive before this time.

Early Arrival and Late Departure: You may arrive one or two days early or stay one or two days after the course. Extra charges apply for these additional days. Please click here to check the costs. Reception is open from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm; arrivals and departures should be scheduled within these hours.

Course Conclusion: The course ends on February 16, with lunch.

Daily Schedule:

  • Start Time: 6:45 am
  • End Time: 9:00 pm
  • Attendance at all sessions is compulsory. Silence is observed from 9:00 pm until after lunch the following day.

Course Discipline:

  • Mobile phones and other internet-connectable devices must be checked in at reception for the duration of the course.
  • Please adhere to our strict dress code, appropriate for a monastic environment.
